SOCIETY/ Burlington House remains appointment only due to COVID-19

Following the recent changes in government guidelines, preparations are underway for Burlington House to resume partial opening in September/October.

However, for now, the premises remain CLOSED to visitors until further notice, with the exception of appointment-only visits to the library by Fellows.

We thank you for your understanding at this unpredictable time and will of course provide an update as the situation evolves.

Sand injectites form during shallow-crustal deformation. Short periods of elevated pore-fluid pressure, which developed regionally, triggered formation of hydrofracture networks into which sand was sometimes injected.
